PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Six pages of problems about area and perimeter at Kauffmann Stadium and A T & T Park. They involve calculating perimeter by adding all sides and by finding unknown sides. Same with area, given the total area of the ballpark and finding the area of the outfield since the area of the infield can be calculated. Fifth grade students even calculate the acreage of the two parks.

There are 30 problems in all: 8 for Grade 3, 10 for Grade 4, and 12 for Grade 5. There is some overlap of problems between grade levels. Some explanation of baseball terminology might be required.

These problems are also included in World Series Word Problems I have posted, so if you’ve purchased one of the Word Problem collections, you already have these problems for that particular grade.

Common Core Standards:

3.MD.8: “Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons....”

4.MD.2: “Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, units of time...and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals...”

4.MD.3: “Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems.”

5.MD.1: “Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system...and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.”
