This is a new twist on matching. Four different quadrilaterals are included. To preview quadrilateral #1 see the free download. Students measure the beginning math tangram then compute the area and perimeter of it. Next they cut the math tangram apart matching the given length and width of a rectangle written on the tan pieces to the Area and Perimeter. They mount their result on construction paper. Students then find the area and perimeter of the resulting quadrilateral.
Common core standard (MCC4.MD.3): Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems.
These tangrams were constructed with Geometers Sketchpad. Each piece fits correctly due to the constructions (perpendicular, parallel, congruent segments, etc.)
