These task cards are a great way to introduce and review finding the area of a shape using square units and connecting that to the concept of using multiplication to find area.
The 16 Task Cards are differentiated into two categories: Simple Rectangular Shapes, and Complex Shapes. The first 12 cards are straight forward rectangular shapes that students can connect an array to the area of a shape. Cards 13-16 contain more complicated shapes and can be used to attempt breaking a complex figure into smaller rectangular shapes and using the arrays to solve the larger area. These 4 cards can be used for either higher level learners, a reach assignment, or extra credit/challenge problems.
Simply laminate the cards, Copy the Answer Sheets and place in a folder for an instant Low Prep Math Center.
Great for small groups, review, test prep, or independent station work.
