Multiply side lengths to find areas of rectangles with whole-number side lengths in the context of solving real world and mathematical problems, and represent whole-number products as rectangular areas in mathematical reasoning.
Use tiling to show in a concrete case that the area of a rectangle with whole-number side lengths a and b + c is the sum of a × b and a × c. Use area models to represent the distributive property in mathematical reasoning.
Recognize area as additive. Find areas of rectilinear figures by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems.
These resources meet most 3rd grade or 4th grade curriculum expectations but could also easily be used for revision or an introduction into fractions in other grades.
There are 2 resources included in this bundle:
Google Slides: Area of a Rectangle (20 slides)

Each Google Slide deck has clear instructions and is designed as independent and interactive practice.
We give 2 options - multiple choice questions at the end of the slide deck or a Google Form. Questions are the same for both.
The Google Forms are auto-graded and can be saved to a Google Sheet, for easy future reference.
