This activity is designed to help students with finding the area of a parallelogram when the height is missing. Students use trigonometry or Pythagorean’s Theorem to find the height before finding the area.
This activity also gets students up and about. Place the 10 cards on the walls around your room. Students pick any card to begin with. The students find the height and area of the parallelogram then look for another card with a matching area. Then they work the next problem. They should continue until they return to the card they started with.
To prevent student from using the units to match cards, I used “unit^2” on the answer cards but students should use the correct units in their answer.
