This interactive lesson provides students with a hands-on activity to review measuring the area of a rectangle as the students measure the cover of a Harry Potter book using square inches.
This lesson includes a Harry Potter book cover template that will open up where your students will record information about measuring area of rectangles. This interactive/foldable will allow your students to create a memorable display of Area of Rectangles. This lesson will be sure to intrigue your students and offers another approach rather than the traditional worksheet. I have found great success in incorporating interactive lessons into my classrooms and my students have thoroughly enjoyed each lesson.
I have provided a template in which the students will color, cut and paste to a separate sheet of paper *or could be a great piece to add to a math journal!
This product includes:
- A procedures page, including the Common Core Standard, step-by-step directions, a photo example and a proficiency scale for students to reflect upon the lesson.
- An ‘Area of Rectangles’ template
*This lesson is a part of an Interactive Math Journal that I use in my classroom but can be used as a single lesson as well. Check out my store for more interactive lessons!
