This Area of a Triangle foldable activity uses silly - but memorable and relevant - phrasing to teaching students the relationship between triangles and rectangles - they will remember this activity! Several different formula options are available - choose the one that you use to teach.
Sometimes it’s the silly things that help keep ideas sharp and memorable!
❤ ❤ You will LOVE this Area of a Triangle Foldable! ❤ ❤
★“Love this! Choices of which terms to use in the formula and the foldable has great visuals.” –Collabor8
★“I used this today and the kids had fun with the idea that a triangle alone is only 50% of themselves and with their better half, they make an awesome rectangle! Thank you for such a wonderful activity!” –Farrah B.
★ “My students rated it an A+!” -Tammy Cowan
★“This was a great addition to my interactive notebook. I loved how the kids could really see that the triangle was half of the square/rectangle.” –Mrs Gs Goodie Bag
This foldable activity represents a funny “love triangle” because half of the triangle is a "female" who is looking for her other half. The male half says, “You complete me!” because when they combine, they make a complete rectangle. Simple, but memorable!
In my district, depending on the grade level and depending on the students, we switch from using the formula A=length x width to Area = base x height. A third option of Area = 1/2 base x height is also included. Choose the option that suits the needs of your class!
What you receive:
There are 5 sets of foldable styles. They’re all very similar except for a few minor details. Choose the option that best suits your needs.
★Set 1 – Full-sized foldable activity designed to fill out an 8½ x 10-inch paper. It uses the formula Area = base x height. I hole-punch the side of the first page, and students put it in their binders. Colored paper, markers, & crayons make it look fantastic!
★Set 2 – Full-sized foldable activity – same as set 1, except it uses the formula Area = length x width.
★Set 3 – Small-sized foldable activity – perfect for the smaller sized composition notebooks that many people use for Interactive Student Notebooks. This set uses the formula Area = base x height.
★Set 4 – Small-sized foldable activity – same as set 3, except it uses the formula Area = length x width.
★Set 5 - Larger sized foldable activity using the formula Area = 1/2 base x height.
