Welcome to my store!!!!
This product contains 24 task cards for area of composite figures. One of our new area TEKS this year was composite and shaded figures. We took our strategy for finding area (multiplying length times width) and applied it to composite figures. Students were taught to break composite figures up into parts to make their multiplying much easier.
I used this activity as a review after teaching the unit. The students walked around the room in a gallery walk style and together in partners worked to find the area of the figures. It helps to laminate the cards, that way students can mark on these with erasable markers and practice breaking up t he composite figures. You can also use these as part of interactive notebooks, assessment purposes, small group and guided math.
