This worksheet addresses CCSS.Math.Content.3.MD.C.7d Recognize area as additive. Find areas of rectilinear figures by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems.
There are 6 rectilinear shapes shown. Each shape has given side lengths. Students must separate the rectilinear shapes into rectangles and then use either a multiplication and/or addition equation to find the area of each rectangle. Then they need to add the area of each rectangle to find the total area.
