Sometimes children have difficulty distinguishing between Area and Perimeter, especially when working with word problems.
This product works well when used as a transition from AREA to PERIMETER because it requires learners to make a comparison. Learners are introduced to the differences between Area and Perimeter (as applied in real life), and are given guidelines on how to distinguish between the two. This product is also good as a review.
Students DO NOT perform calculations. Instead, they look for clues and determine if a situation calls for area or perimeter. In total, there are 20 different situations for students to explore.
This product can be presented in two ways: as a PowerPoint presentation OR as Task Cards. A review worksheet and recording sheet is included with answers.
It is Common Core aligned, and comes in both Imperial and Metric versions.
If you like this product, you may also like my "Area and Perimeter" Task Cards which require calculations.
