Any world history or current events study will include areas of conflict in the world today. This is a 1-2 class period activity that can be expanded into presentations or a formal writing activity. Students choose or are assigned an area of conflict to research, then add what they learned to a template that can be printed or added to a class website for a comprehensive display.
This download includes 5 pages:
1- An overview of the assignment/ideas for implementation
2- Student Direction Sheet
3- Student Guided Research Sheet
4- Area of Conflict Template
5- Research topic list
I use this activity in the beginning of the year as part of my unit on the International Day of Peace (September 21st). Students learn about the how the world is organized today, the United Nations, major current events (varies year-to-year), causes of conflict, and more.
