This unit was designed for writing an argument paragraph; however, it could easily be expanded to an argument essay. I use this unit before teaching A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I require the students to use informational reading skills throughout this writing unit.
This unit is based around the topic of cancer so we can understand what is happening in the novel. You could easily change the topic to fit your needs. In this unit, to save time, energy, and differentiate for my students, I provide the research.
