This handout is meant to be used as a scaffold for argumentative essay and rhetorical analysis. It can be used to guide whole-class discussion of articles, or as an individual student assessment. Articles can be provided by the instructor, or students can find them individually. I have even had students use this as way to give a peer review of missing elements in their argumentative essay. Please feel free to edit this resource as needed to include your district's argumentative format and your students' individual needs. This product can be used as a formative assessment for CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.1
