In NYS, 11th grade students take an ELA Regents exam that they need to pass in order to graduate. One of the components of the exam is an argumentative essay. I created these paragraph frames for my students with limited English. However, I find that all students in my integrated co-taught ELA/ENL class benefit from having the components of an argumentative essay mapped out. This essay format can be used for almost any argumentative paper. In my classes, we focus on the I.C.E method (Introduce, Cite, Explain) which you will see in each of the 3 body paragraphs.
