Are you using the Teacher College writing curriculum like so many others? We are too.
I’m currently teaching 7th grade, and after the students write their argument essay, I have them write a reflection.
Students still use the checklists. I’ve just taken it one step further.
The reflections are rewarding to read. This is where you get to see that you really have made a difference as students will often write about how much you helped them and how much they have learned.
Further, reflecting on your writing is the best way to grow as a writer. (But you knew that.)
*This assignment is best completed digitally, but it can easily be printed for students without computers.
