PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is an argumentative essay prompt, text, and skeleton essay that I use in my classroom when we read The Great Fire by Jim Murphy (it would also be fine to do this essay without having read that text). The text is an article written by the Illinois Fire Chief. Students use information from this letter to determine if their homes should have sprinkler systems installed. The essay skeleton makes organizing the essay easy, so students can focus on adding their text evidence and explanation.

This would be a great introduction to argumentative writing, a skaffolded activity for students who needs some extra help, or a quick activity for any student.

The buyer will receive a PDF copy and also a link to a Google doc (which can be edited).
