More than 50 pages of resources including Graphic Organizers, Teacher and Student Model Samples, Peer Editing Activity lesson, Writer’s Checklist, and Extension Activity – Socratic Method
I can’t tell you how many argumentative lessons I’ve taught in my teaching career, but I can tell you we’ve had a lot of fun! This is a topic students will want to discuss and debate. You may be surprised at their reaction. I’ve included lessons plans that are timed out over a three-week period, but you can adjust to fit your classroom.
I’ve also included a Socratic Seminar, which you can use to guide the position student’s take or to extend the lesson after papers are complete. You will also see models that can be used on a smart board or as a classwork assignment. These are actual student samples that you can use as models and as examples to revise and edit. They aren’t perfect, but they are excellent examples for students, who can read them and analyze them compared to their own.
I hope that you enjoy this lesson as much as we have!
