A Common Core Aligned and Interactive Student Notebook Product!
Argumentative Writing Packet
My hope is that the handouts will help to make the argumentative writing process less overwhelming and more accessible to students after reading James Hurst’s “The Scarlet Ibis.”
I have included an overview on how to use and adapt the writing packet. Scaffolding and differentiation are easy and specific.
Pages can be trimmed to be placed in an Interactive Student Notebook.
All the handouts help a student work through the writing process.
The entire process results in an eight sentence paragraph to target the need for focused and well-supported short responses.
The process can be used in whole or modified to be used for meeting a variety of needs in the classroom.
The checkpoints allow teachers to give immediate feedback to writers.
The format allows the teacher to determine a student's present level of work and a starting place to move to more advanced writing.
Use with your Student Learning Outcome projects before and after teaching to determine evidence of student growth and reflect on or adjust teaching strategies.
The packet allows teachers to meet the Danielson model in terms of knowledge of students and differentiated teaching strategies.
The process can be used during Student Learning Outcome projects.
