Product Description
Aristotle is known as the father of rhetoric. He identified three types of persuasive appeals - Logos, Ethos, and Pathos - that all orators use in trying to build a convincing argument. Today, these appeals are also commonly used in advertising. This lesson includes a 15 slide PowerPoint Presentation; a two-sided student handout with class, individual, and group activities; and a lesson plan page for the teacher. The handout and powerpoint include detailed information on how persuasive techniques are used in Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. In addition, the teacher may use 10 magazine ads or internet ads to reinforce students' abilities to identify the three types of persuasive appeals.
