This is a discovery based lesson which covers the recursive and explicit rule for arithmetic sequences. The lesson includes both guided notes (with SMART board) and a scavenger hunt activity.
This scavenger hunt activity is a great way for students to practice their new skills while freeing up the teacher to help those who are struggling. In order to get started you set up the scavenger hunt around the room (be careful not to put it up in order!). Students can start at any point around the room and complete the question given at the bottom of the page. Once they have the solution, they will search the room until they find their answer at the top of another piece of paper in purple. Students can record their work as well as the image, which corresponds to their solution on the worksheet provided. When they finish, they will end up back where they started!
