This is a simple worksheet to have students calculate the missing terms of arithmetic and geometric sequences.
For arithmetic sequences, such as 3, _, _, _, 50, I have them write the first blank as "3+d," the second as "3 + 2d", and so on, so that the fourth term becomes the equation 3+4d=50, for which they solve for d.
Likewise, for the geometric sequence 3, _, _, _, 50, the first blank becomes 3r, the second 3r^2, and so on, so the fourth term generates the equation 3r^4=50, which they then solve for r.
I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions.
