This versatile set of geography cards is great for all levels, K-8. The set includes 14 printable pages which can be cut into 234 cards with the names of continents, countries, significant bodies of water, and a fun assortment of other geographical features and landmarks such as the Amazon River, the Ring of Fire, and Disney World. The cards can be used as a game, or for individual or group practice to supplement a geography unit. In a classroom it works great as a rainy day activity.
These cards are meant to be printed on cardstock and cut apart. The last page of the file is left blank except for the borders so that you can add your own cards to the set.
The cards are color coded to make sorting quick and easy: continents are printed in brown, oceans and seas in blue, countries in red, and other geographical features and landmarks in purple.
The set includes cards for:
24 oceans, seas, and other significant bodies of water
53 various interesting geographical features and landmarks
These cards work great as a game, and can be used with either a globe (homeschool setting) or a large world map (classroom setting). The game can be played individually or in teams. Kids take turns drawing a card and finding the location on the map or globe before the time runs out. (The time allowed for each round can vary depending on the age of the kids.) The team with the most successes by the end of the game wins!
The cards can be sorted by difficulty level or geographical region. Younger kids have fun identifying continents and the larger countries, while older kids enjoy hunting for the smaller countries and harder-to-find landmarks. Depending on the nature or purpose of the game you may choose to allow hints and/or other resources.
For younger kids this is a great way to introduce the concept of geography by showing them where they are in relation to other places they may have heard of. For older kids it's a fun way of becoming more familiar with the world they live in and the amazing things in it.
