Teach your students to add elaboration in their writing with a variety of details while you integrate social studies content or research skills. These task cards are perfect for a center rotation in your writing workshop, and they can also be used as a whole class activity. This activity is great to spark interest and research questions for a unit on travel, to plan and organize before an essay, or use as a culminating assessment after completing a world geography unit.
Each task card provides a topic sentence about travel or world cultures. Students must write in three details that could be used in a paragraph with that topic sentence.
Instructions include these types of details:
• Sensory language (imagery)
• Facts & figures
• Figurative language
