This is a short project used midway through the first Engage New York module for 3rd grade, but could easily be used as review or center work for 4th grade. Students should create a poster for a given number that shows all of the possible arrays and also all of the multiplication and division equations for each array. Afterwards, they decorate each array using a pattern of their choice. You can skip this step, but it makes the project a bit more fun to look at and also adds buy-in to get all kids engaged.
Project sheet with an example.
** You will need to provide a large piece of construction paper and the numbers. I am always careful to assign numbers that match the students level.
