This resource can be used as a station when teaching students how to interpret products. Included are a cover page, two pages worth of cards, a recording sheet, and an answer key.
Students will work to sort through the cards and decide if the array shown on the card correctly represents the multiplication sentence. They will sort cards into a true or false category and record their number sentences onto their recording sheet.
For instance, a card may read:
4 x 5 = 20 with a 3 x 5 array next to it
Students should think of 4 x 5 as 4 groups of 5. Therefore, the array should have 4 rows and 5 columns. Students should be able to figure out that this card's array does not correctly represent the multiplication sentence and put it under the false pile. They will then record the number sentence onto the recording sheet.
I hope you and your students find this product helpful and enjoyable!
