This is a terrifically successful clay project that we do in grade 10 (in grade 9 we do gargoyles and they build upon these skills in grade 10)
This Powerpoint provides a step-by-step guide to help you through the making of the boxes, as well as notes about key techniques when working with clay.
This is the inspiration / how-to Powerpoint for the project goes through:
-exemplars (students work)
-tips about creating texture
-reminders about techniques - score & slip
It really gets them excited to see so many examples of different boxes.
A very approachable, very successful project every year!
One that they keep afterwards to actually use, which is awesome.
TIP - if you don't have proper glazes, get them to paint the boxes with acrylic paint but and put SPRAY GLOSS on top - it'll look like a faux glaze. So beautiful.
