This is for the workshop lesson I do with all art students for CONTOUR DRAWINGS.
It's how we start our drawing unit - the day after we do the "upside down" drawing lesson that's also in my shop!
It walks them through
-what is a contour drawing
-what they're all about, and why they're important
-instructions for materials/tips (no erasing/use pencil crayon etc.)
-7 types (they practice drawing their hands, and label as they go)
-homework assignment where they get to pick 3 out of a few options to practice
This is really helpful because each type is described, so really you just show this to them and walk them through the lesson.
Also - it's fun :)
A great way to get them observing and embracing the idea of really LOOKING
