This ready-to-use unit is designed for use with 3-6 grade art students. The unit consists of a cover page, complete with student samples, followed by three pages of the student handout. The student handout includes an introductory page with website video link that describes how the Navajo make their rugs, from raising and dying their own wool, construction of a loom and, creating a rug. The introductory page also includes a fill-in-the-blank vocabulary section. Page 2 of the student handout includes instructions for building a cardboard loom, weaving, finishing touches and removing the weaving from the loom. Page 3 completes the student handout with a rubric for the weaving project.
