Art History Art Lesson: Gustav Klimt and Trees with Symbolic Emotion
This lesson, can be used along with a writing assignment or can be a stand alone art lesson. Art Analysis, the Art Elements and Principles of Design are used in order to help the Art Educator to
meet state and national Common Core standards.
This lesson, Introduces the Art of Gustav Klimt and emotion using trees as the subject of the lesson.
The students will learn about colors and symbolic meanings attached to each then begin to think about ways to convey the feelings and emotions to create 3 very different trees. At the end of the lesson the student will have created a sketch for a happy, sad, and mad tree. Samples are included in the lesson.
This lesson is a student directed project and is also a formative assessment which can be kept as part of the student art portfolio.
