A natural extension from your Martin Luther King activities. The Drum Dream girl is a beautifully illustrated story that addresses discrimination. This multidisciplinary lesson connects to music and poetry. The major art objectives addressed are pattern and positive and negative space.
You will receive three professionally lesson plans to help you start, teach and close the activity. Each plan includes the relevant objectives and NEW national art standards. I have included the haiku helper syllable worksheet. There are a few in-progress photos of my students engaged in the project. This has been classroom tested at the second grade level.
While scratch art is the intended project, this could easily transfer to drawings, watercolor resist and other media.
