This geography related landscape collage art lesson focuses on the elements of art shape, color, and space. The use and consideration of negative space as a composition element is embedded in the activity.
This is a simple to teach lesson that requires very little preparation or planning. The inherent nature of the simplified collage assures that all students can be successful in creating interesting, stylized landscape collages.
The lesson includes an introductory read aloud followed by a review and discussion of landscape elements.

lessons and resources are designed to foster student creativity, choice, and independence, and to encourage authentic art-making. Consideration is given to developmental appropriateness, differentiation possibilities, and teacher individuality. For this reason, directions are general, expectations are open-ended, and clip art on student pages is kept to a minimum.
