This math-related art lesson focuses on creating secondary colors from primary colors and incorporates symmetry, patterning, and repetition.
Students explore mixing two primary colors to create secondary colors and are invited to create as many hues as possible. The addition of white and black to the palette can extend the color theory lesson to include creating tints and shades.
This is a simple art lesson that teaches basic information about color-mixing
and gives students the opportunity to explore painting techniques and apply basic geometry concepts.
Add a lesson on Pop Art to further extend the lesson.
This lesson is bundled with three other lessons in Art Lessons With Hearts.
The lesson includes the following:

lessons and resources are designed to foster student creativity, choice, and independence, and to encourage authentic art-making. Consideration is given to developmental appropriateness, differentiation possibilities, and teacher individuality. For this reason, directions are general, expectations are open-ended, and clip art on student pages is kept to a minimum.
