All in one first grade ART CURRICULUM!
After many years of refining and fine tuning, I have designed a YEAR LONG art curriculum to engage young students in the discovery of art, art history and materials!
This art curriculum follows the story of Anna's Art Adventure, by Bjorn Sortland, in which Anna urgently needs to find that bathroom...because when you gotta go...
Throughout the story, Anna meets Modern Artists and journeys through their paintings in a great art adventure.
This power point is designed work in tandem with the story and to be presented after Anna "meets" each artist. After each "meeting", the teacher pauses and goes through the slides that correspond with the artist. For example, the story opens with a painting by Ellsworth Kelly. After reading about Ellsworth Kelly, close the book and proceed to instruct using the slides 2-5, and conducting an art project.
In sequence, students use their own "Art Adventure" books that you create by printing and binding specific pages from the power point. See below.
Each artist segment is created to engage students' visual thinking skills, vocabulary, art-making techniques and the basics of art that each student needs as their foundation in art education.
First grade students will learn about 13 Modern Artists and work through preliminary art activities.
Rembrandt van Rijn
Vincent van Gogh
What you will need:
Book: Anna's Art Adventure
Student Books: 16 slides printed and bound (2 sided)

This refined version is the perfect method to excite your young students in the art room. It leaves a little mystery and begs the question of whether Anna will ever find the toilet. Think: What first grader would not want a year of looking for a toilet?
