This is one of my favorite projects of the year!
Included are 4 pages to print and share with students: an art history page on the Pop Art movement and Roy Lichtenstein's work examples with a short bio, plus a printable, full instruction lesson and rubric (assignment expectations) for grading the project.
Students will enjoy researching an idea from today's pop culture to use for their project image. Then create it in the style of Roy Lichtenstein's large scale comic art using only primary colors with black and white. They will even use his famous "benday dots".
I usually do this project on large paper with tempera paint, but it also would be a great project with acrylic on canvas!
The preview is one of my 7th grade student examples.
