In this easy-to-follow, detailed lesson we learn about the artist Henri Matisse while learning to draw a 3D fish bowl using ellipses. This lesson is best done as a two-part lesson, using one session to do the line art and the other to paint with watercolors. Students will create bold line art and bright colorful patterns as they use their imagination to design their little corner of a room.
This lesson is part of our Art with the Masters curriculum series, though the art lesson may be used on its own as well. Every Art with the Masters lesson is complete with a biography on the artist, step-by-step written instructions with accompanying photos, and critical thinking questions to guide your students in learning beyond the art lesson itself.
