This is the printmaking assignment that I give to my grade 10's.
It's very open-ended, and students love it.
It's a really successful (fun, MESSY!) project that they enjoy every year. It's one of their projects they always won't let me keep as an exemplar :)
The assignment walks them through the basic steps of
**they're asked to hand in their 4 best prints - they look AMAZING if you get them to mount them together as one whole artwork.
NOTE - I use "Scratchfoam" to keep the cost down (the printmaking inks are expensive enough!)....normal styrofoam/Dollar store foam doesn't work, but Scratchfoam is sold at most art stores and can be cut into 4 pieces. Super cheap, but they're made specifically for this...it maintains the texture/can be washed and re-used multiple times for multiple prints.
The assignment can be easily manipulated to fit your class/project needs.
There's also a rubric included!
