This middle or high school art activity is a great way to introduce, and reinforce, the drawing and shading basics.
This worksheet includes information about value scales, shadows, highlights, and finding the light source, shading along the contours, creating gradation, and five ways of shading. The shading techniques covered are stippling, hatching, cross hatching, scribbling, and blending.
On the back of the worksheet the students have an activity to complete. This is a great way to determine whether or not they understand the shading concepts introduced on the front.
