This art sub lesson is about a real type of sculptural art called Art Cars. Warhol created one. Lichtenstein created one. Keith Haring created one. Everyday people create them too.
This PowerPoint lesson gives the teacher a script with questions about a variety of art cars and inspires the students into creating drawings of original art cars.
This lesson was written so that it could be taught by an art sub, but would also be appropriate for art teachers and classroom teachers, with or without art experience.
This is a lesson that I have taught as a substitute art teacher. (I spent 30 years as an art teacher and now sub for my friends.) When I teach this lesson, the students are highly engaged. This lesson encourages them to imagine things they have never seen before while using their own personal interests as subject matter.
I teach this as a one class lesson when I sub, but it may be extended for a second class. (You could further discuss background and coloring.)
It may be used as a projected PowerPoint or printed out and shown up close to a class of students.
