Art inspired by Pablo Picasso, accompanied with upbeat instrumental jazz. Figurative and still life pieces composed by Tosh Fomby.
While it will inspire, this video (2.5 minutes), is soothing and relaxing with instrumental jazz. It is great for use during transitional times, for special education and art classrooms. In addition, not only are students watching art and listening to music that's calming.
This video is suitable for any grade level, from pre-k to high school.
Art Therapy I will calm the classroom and students will become focused on what is displayed on the ActivBoard. The art is vibrant and can be a great time to view prior to students going into another content area, as well as prior to going to art class, which exposes them to fine art in the classroom.
Use Art Therapy II to insert in a presentation to show contemporary style of Cubism as an introduction. There is also a folk art flavor incorporated, so you may show students how two styles are merged.
Students can watch Art Therapy II individually or as a class. The music has a calming effect as the art moves across the screen, stimulating the mind with art inspired by my southern African-American upbringing.
