This is definitely one of my favorite lessons from my Fairy Tale and Fable Thematic Unit!
I needed to have a project for one 3rd grade classroom. You know the classroom of wiggly-gigilly boys who will work for you but really need to be outside burning off some steam. Well, I created this lesson thinking they might just be able to pull it off. When I told them of the project, I heard some moans and groans. Great, now what am I going to do! After I heard the groans I spun the lesson in such a way that it was cool to create a magical vehicle that they could really deck out!
This mixed media project uses painted paper, oil pastels, tempera paints and painted paper scraps to create an adorable magical pumpkin carriage among vines.
This 11 page pdf includes:
Step by step full-color photo tutorial for the Magical Pumpkin Carriage lesson
Information about the book that inspired the adorable carriage
Supplies needed for project
Templates for wheels
"How to Make Painted Paper" Handout
These lessons are great for ages 6-10 but any age student can create with these directions.
