The A in GRAPES stands for art/architecture/achievements. I was looking for student friendly readings as introductions to these topics and couldn't find one, so I made it myself.
Instructions call for students to read with a partner and to underline a "scissor statement" for each section. I define scissor statement as the most important sentence or two of a section (or a chapter or entire reading, whatever you'd like) -- if you could cut out one statement to get to the essence of the reading, which statement would it be? Whatever you choose is your "scissor statement".
