This is a unit where students learn to be entomologists and study arthropods! It uses a lot of fun vocabulary and introduces students to the world of bugs. We do this unit every year after testing and my students love it. It includes an acrostic poem about spiders, a web where students write down characteristics of arthropods, anchor charts for each type of arthropod (insect, arachnid, myriapod, and crustacean), compare and contrast graphic organizers, and an I know all about butterflies book. I recently added a Diary of a Butterfly book modeled after Diary of a Worm or Spider. I also added a comparison of good vs. bad insects. Along with a concluding activity which allows students to write something they wrote for each letter of the alphabet (In the A box they would write that Arachnids have 8 legs). This is a great way to see what the students learned.
I hope you enjoy it!
