This is a product you can use again and again.
Students will be assessed on their READING and WRITING skills with this assignment. This is a great way to introduce argumentative writing.
Students will be asked to closely read an article (of your choice) by annotating the text (using symbols and marginal notes). Then, they will answer text-based questions (attached). Students will be graded on their reading (rubric attached).
Then, students will be required to write a well-developed They Say / I Say response to the author’s argument(s) -- not merely a summary of the article -- on a separate sheet of paper. (Guidelines, outline, and template on back sheet). Students will be graded on their writing (rubric attached).
