Non-Fiction Article of the Week- Is there Alien Life Out There? Geared for grades 5 or 6 or above level grade 4. Great for analyzing text and annotating. Perfect for practicing close reading strategies. Questions geared towards cause and effect, main idea and details.
Lexile level of this article is around 800-900, it discusses the Breakthrough Starshot, designed by Stephen Hawking. There are 2 words to be defined with context clues. Would go great with any Space unit for a cross-curricular approach, which is what I use them for in my 6th grade classroom.
Each article of the week has 2 cover sheets, one that has a reading log included one with out. Both are editable using text boxes in power point.
There are also clear directions to the students on how to use close reading strategies.
I have also added editable directions and you can change the close reading strateies if you need to.
