Articles Bundle - Using the right articles is probably the most confusing part of English for ESL students. This package teaches children about articles (a, an and the) through various activities. It focuses on choosing the right article for specific noun.
10 Articles Posters (Includes definition + rules)
This story helps children understand the concept of definite and indefinite articles better. The articles are colour coded in pink in the story. Four Cards that explain the articles (a, an, the) used in the story are included. Print, cut + laminate out all the cards. Then, pinch a hole in the top left corner and use a ring to bind all the cards together. You have a mini story book!
3 Activities related to using the right article (P7). Children need to help the monster find what balloon he wants. Based on the your instructions (P7), the children choose from 6 different balloon pictures and decide which balloon the monster wants. Eg. you might say to give the monster ‘a red balloon’. The child can then choose to give the boy either the ‘red circle’ balloon or the ‘red heart’ balloon. However if you say to give the monster ‘the red heart balloon’, the child can only give him that (ie. the red heart balloon). You can also ask the child to insert the right article into the sentence “I want _____ balloon(s)’ dependent on what balloon picture is in place. This activity helps children understand the concept of definite and indefinite articles easier. (Preparation: Print + Cut + Laminate all the cards)

Two ways to play: either w/ or w/o Game board.
Without game board: If kids answer correctly, they keep the card. Whoever earns the most cards wins.
With game board: In order to move forward, children must roll a die. Students need to answer the game cards correctly to roll the die. If they answer correctly, they can move forward the number rolled. If they answer wrong, they lose their turn.

Give-the-right-balloon Activity (P24…)
Activity 1: Give the right balloon
Guide the child using the following speaking prompts. Based on your instruction, the child needs to put the right picture next to the monster.
- Give the monster a balloon. (The child may put ANY balloon next to the monster)
- Give the monster a red balloon.
(The child may put ANY red balloon next to the monster)
- Give the monster a red circle balloon.
(The child needs to give the red circle balloon to the monster)
-Give the monster balloons (no articles)
(The child needs to give more than one balloon to the monster)
- Give the monster the orange/purple/yellow balloon
(The monster need to give the specified balloons to the monster)
Activity 2: Put the right articles (2 different versions; p24-26 focuses on a, an; p27-29 focuses on a, an, the)
*Balloon Version Instructions:
Put any one of the balloon pictures next to the monster. Ask your student to pick the suitable article + balloon description (P27 – word cards) to complete the “I want _____ balloon” sentence. The sentences that suit each picture are provided below.
- Red Heart Balloon
I want a balloon, I want a red balloon, I want the red heart balloon,
- Red Circle Balloon
I want a balloon, I want a red balloon, I want the red circle balloon,

I want (no article + no balloon description) balloons.
