This packet contains target words your clients can actually produce!
Many articulation therapy materials for early developing consonant sounds contain words that are too difficult for children to produce. If they struggle achieving correct placement for the most basic sounds, chances are they can’t produce later developing sounds!
These Articulation Activities also incorporate language skills.
Activities included for each sound:
•Matching: Use the picture cards to play a matching game. Or, use them during any basic turn taking game or structured play activity.
•Guess the Word: Use the descriptor cards to elicit the target words and support convergent naming skills during structured play with toys or a board game.
•Silly Story: Read the silly stories and then have your clients retell the story to practice their sounds and build narrative language skills. *The Silly Stories may include sounds that your clients may not be able to correctly produce. Only focus on the production of the target words in the story.
•Create Your Own Story: Help your client create their own silly narrative including all the target sounds as you dictate the story to support expressive language and sentence structure. Then, send home for additional practice!
*Print out the Matching and Guess the Word pages on cardstock quality paper. Cut out the cards and laminate for extended use.
This packet is intended for preschool and kindergarten aged clients.
