Product Description
Let’s hope that this is the FINAL, epic Articulation Battle to reach generalization of speech sounds in articulation. Your students are so busy verbally battling each other with over 1000 funny, random and crazy combinations that they won’t even realise that they’re practising their speech! Get ready to think creatively and argue (using your 'L' sounds) how your Llama with a Lasso would beat their Lamb with some Lipstick. A sample battle can go a little something like this…

“My Llama would throw a Lasso around the Lamb to capture it”
“Well just before you do that, my Lamb would put some Lipstick on and your Llama would think that it’s so cute that it would fall in love with me and I’d lasso you before you knew what was going on...”

It’s a game that changes EVERY single time you play it!

These battles can go on and on and on and there are SO MANY different variations of the game. Here’s why: Each speech sound set typically contains 12 people/animals (the Fighters) and then 12 objects (or weapons if you want to use this language) for each position. This means that the “L” set has 72 individual cards for initial, medial and final position combined. You can battle Fighter vs. Fighter (Leprechaun vs. Lizard), you can add a special object or ‘weapon’ (Leprechaun+Log vs. Lizard+Lighthouse) and you can keep drawing Fighter or Object cards to combat what was just thrown at you. To truly reach generalization, mix the initial-medial-final Fighter cards together and do the same with the Object cards, and you are practising your sounds in ALL positions (you can always step down and just focus on /L/ initial though!).

You can play this 1:1 and decide between you who wins (although, this could take all session ;), but who cares if you're practicing your sounds, right?) OR if you have articulation groups, get everyone else to vote and decide and those students will also be working on the same sound. Want some MAYHEM? Do a group battle! More variations are suggested the in product, so there are some rule bending and tweaks. If you have different students working on different speech targets, then they can use a “CH” deck to battle your “S Blend” deck. Talk about flexible… and you KNOW that this is going to be one of those games they never get sick of!!!

Keep this in mind - you are getting 1032 cards. You don’t just have to use it for Articulation Battle!

These are best to print on colored cardstock, the ‘Fighters’ in one colour and the ‘Objects/Weapons’ in another color. All images are blackline with the the occasional greyscale image thrown in.
