This packet pairs great with "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" by Laura Joffe Numeroff, but is a stand alone activity! It includes over 430 cards to target /b/, /p/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /f/, /v/, /s/, /z/, /s/ blends, /r/, /r/ blends, /l/, /l/ blends, “th,” “ch,” “sh,” /m/, /n/, final consonant deletion, and weak syllable deletion + a blank set for customized therapy.
There are two ways that I play this game with my students. First, I print and laminate all cards. For one game, we “bake cookies” by placing the cookie cards on a cookie sheet with a spatula. The students say the cards as they place them on the sheet. Then we bake them and pretend to eat them. We practice the words again while “eating.” For the second version of the game, I place the cookies in a large jar and have the students pull them out one-by-one. They practice saying the words as they pull them out of the jar.
Both of these activities allow for the use a several carrier phrases such as: “I cooked a _______” or “I ate a __________.”
