Product Description
The idea of Articulation Doodles was created after reading that doodling may help people stay focused, grasp new concepts and retain information. Using doodling to help students stay focused and attentive during articulation therapy is one goal of this product. Additionally, during therapy I want my students to grasp placement and production of new sound targets while learning automaticity with drill practice. I also desire for my students to generalize as quickly as possible in order to retain correct productions in their everyday speech.

Each page of Articulation Doodles combines words and pictures with a target sound surrounding a theme. The fonts and images are varied in a way that draws attention and may help with visual memory of target words which could act as a cue for self-correcting errors. An image that depicts speech sound placement for each target sound is also included for recall and cueing. The corresponding My Articulation Doodles page is set up for students to create their own doodles for target words.

Suggested Ideas for Use: Give each student a target Articulation Doodles or My Articulation Doodles page. Have the student color in created words and images or doodle their own designs. This product is perfect for mixed groups allowing the students to doodle while practicing and/or waiting for direct instruction from the SLP. The pages are set up to include at least 5 target words. Students can use these words as is or create their own sentences about the pictures to see how many combinations can be created. This is perfect for language expansion as well. (Example pg. 5 The rabbit romps in the refreshing rain. The robin was relaxing in the rain.) You may also have the student doodle tally marks on their page, if desired, to chart how many target sounds/words were produced. Write this number at the bottom of the page. You can also send this page home for more practice.

As always, the SLP should adapt materials to meet student needs. This product was only created to support therapy by a certified SLP.
