PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This packet contains a jeopardy game to target /r/ and /s/ in articulation therapy – each answer contains both an /r/ and an /s/. This is great for large groups (up to 10 students). The difficulty level of the questions is geared towards students between 2nd-5th grade.

I often play Jeopardy with my kids in Speech as a special treat during weeks when we have shortened days (e.g. conference week) or at the end of the year, when I efficiently need to make up missed sessions. While the set up is somewhat involved, you can re-use this every year or with different groups once it is made. Please see my blog post on how to set up a Jeopardy game: http://wordwonderspeech.blogspot.com/2013/10/speech-jeopardy.html

CONTENTS:
-Cover page / Instructions
-5 category headers (People, Animals, Food, Science, Pot Luck)
-5 question cards for each category (25 questions total) – cards with stars on them are “Double Jeopardy” and worth double the points
-25 color-coded point cards
-Answer sheet

TO PLAY:
Version 1 (my preferred for older students):
1. Divide students into teams.
2. On their turn, a team gets to decide on a category and point value.
3. The question or prompt is read out loud.
4. The team has to collaborate when thinking of the correct answer -- no blurting out or they lose their turn!
5. If the team answers correctly, the team gets the points. If the answer is incorrect, the other team gets a shot. Teams take turns picking questions – Cards with stars are worth twice the points.
6. The team with the most points wins.

Version 2 (my preferred for SDC groups or younger students)
1. This version allows students to play versus the teacher / SLP.
2. Students take turns choosing a category / point value (e.g., Animals 300).
3. The question or prompt is read out loud.
4. Students then have to come up with the correct answer as a team. (Or you can take turns calling on them until someone gets it right, which is what I usually do).
5. If someone knows the answer, they get the points. If they do not know the answer, the teacher/SLP gets the points. Cards with stars are worth twice the points.
6. Whoever has the most points at the end is the winner

And to maximize articulation practice, students have to practice the answers chorally 20 times after getting an answer!

This game is great for promoting cooperative skills!

I also have language versions of this available in my store.
